Invited to the White House Part II<\/a><\/p>\n #Social at the #SOTUSocial–Making the White House Accessible<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
You can apply to attend the #SOTUSocial. Attending the social is an honor and an experience for an American. It’s a privilege to be a #digitalcitizen and to participate in the political process no matter what one’s political beliefs are. The greatest quality about America is the honor to agree to disagree, but\u00a0to also create a healthy dialogue. Americans\u00a0must educate themselves about the issues and policies set forth by the current Administration so they can discuss what they like and dislike about our country’s policies. The #SOTUSocial is about creating a digital community to help create a better understanding about an event so many people in America disregard and ignore only to wake up to hear about the speech\u00a0on the news the next morning.<\/p>\n
Last year, my students created #utdSocial and tweeted with me. Many students said they had never been excited about watching the #SOTU before. My goal is to have students live tweet the #SOTU and for them to understand that\u00a0no matter if you agree or disagree–a healthy dialogue is important. And one that is a privilege–especially when the @WhiteHouse encourages it.<\/p>\n
The #SOTUSocial\u00a0showcases the American citizen’s voice. Be heard. Ask Questions. Get involved. Learn about the process. Tweet the #SOTU<\/p>\n
